Cause:

  1. Misaligned impeller, impeller habit, and diffuser habit too close.
  2. Recirculation in the pump, axial misposition of pump rotor etc ..
  3. Fluctuation in the basic pressure.
  4. Unsteady flow phenomenon.
  5. Pump cavitation damage.
  6. Bearing instability in lightly loaded sleeve bearings.
  7. Bearing fits and clearances.
  8. Geometric relationship between impeller exit and diffuser inlet being incorrect.
  9. Mechanical imbalance, misalignment, shaft runout etc ..
  10. Increase bearing loads and shorten the lifetime of bearings.
  11. Vapor-filled cavities in the vanes.
  12. Noise in high frequencies.
  13. Loose internal components, shafts thermally bowed from rubbing.
  14. Loose bearings, nuts and bolts improperly fastened.
